Backshop is a missed-call text-back service for local service businesses. It is based in Newburgh, Indiana, and serves shops across the Tri-State.
Service businesses lose calls for a simple reason: the owner is usually working, not sitting at a desk by the phone. The call comes in during a job, rings out, and the customer moves on to the next name on Google. In home services, about one in four inbound calls goes unanswered during business hours.
Backshop covers that gap. Each shop gets a phone number that forwards to the owner's cell. When a call is not answered, the caller gets a text within 30 seconds, the owner gets an alert with the caller's number, and the caller is saved to a contact list. The owner does not have to learn new software or carry a second phone.
Setup is handled for the business, not left to them. After a short signup form, the number is provisioned, the text-back is written and wired up, alerts are pointed at the owner's phone, and the whole thing is tested with a real call before it goes live. Most shops are running within 24 hours.
The service is hosted and maintained on the Backshop side. When something needs a change, the business sends a message and it gets handled directly.
Questions go to the person who runs the service, not a support queue or a chatbot.
